The government has certain tasks and responsibilities towards its citizens. However, sometimes the boundaries get overstepped or a public entity does not act the way it should. If you have informed the government about your grievance and nothing is done, the next possible step is to go to the Ombudsman.

It is important to know your rights and this latest Power of Knowledge session will set out to inform you of the rights and responsibilities that you have when dealing with public entities. This is in line with the goal of the Power of Knowledge sessions, which is to help inform and equip people with knowledge with which they can take control of their lives and make positive changes.

The following week there will be a lecture on the labor laws of Sint Maarten, on October 20th, also at 6:30 pm. Photo caption: Neil Henderson of Henderson Insurances providing a lecture on insurance at last week’s “Power of Knowledge” session
