, will help out persons who need assistance in matters such as filling out forms, understanding complex documents and other language problems. The helpdesk will also give out community information, such as how to reach health care and social workers, government services, and other social organizations and support groups.

The helpdesk is part of the “SXM Reads” campaign which was launched in May 2015 and is focused on promoting literacy and supporting people with low literacy skills. The library partners with UNESCO, COME Centre and Rotary club St Martin Sunrise in the SXM Reads platform. The literacy helpdesk is the latest SXM Reads activity and will assist those people in the community who come across various problems in their daily lives, which are due to literacy problems. By setting up the helpdesk, the “SXM Reads” initiative hopes to be of support for those persons and alleviate the problems that are caused by their lack of reading and writing skills.
