Readers are Leaders Black History Celebration this Tuesday

On Tuesday February 28th the Readers are Leaders book club will have their annual Black History Celebration at the Library. On the program are various acts to be performed by students from the participating high schools. Students from the Vocational school will do a Poem and drumming rendition as well as a dance to song rendition. Also part of Tuesdays black history program are video clips of interviews with local persons of interest. These interviews were conducted by Students from form s 3- 5 of the St Maarten Academy as part of. an effort to build up the schools archive with information about local figures. Among the persons interviewed are William Marlin Lasana Sekou, Camille Baly. This video clips will be shown as of 5.00 pm at the Hall of the LibraryThe Readers are Leaders program was started by the Philipsburg Jubilee Library and the Rotary Sunrise Club in march 2010. Aim of Readers are Leaders is to turn St Maartens teenagers into avid readersAll teenagers as well as the general public are invited to the Readers are Leaders black history celebration. The program will start at 5.00 pm at the Library.
