The management and staff are happy to continue providing their service to our loyal customers. The temporary solution to accommodate, by using the entrance hall has brought back some ambiance to our library, since the passing and the devastation to our structure in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

Customers have access to a wide range of library materials, namely the children collection and a small selection of Adult Fiction and Non- Fiction, our internet Café, DVD’s, Photocopying, a lounge area, and newly improvised study area in the garden under the tent. Our space is very limited, however, we did our best to try and accommodate most everyone’s needs.

In addition to the abovementioned services. The library has been providing outreach services to daycare centers and afternoon schools in the form of reading with reading-related activities and reading games; such as Rhyme Time for babies and toddlers, Story Time, Puppet Theatre for Pre- Schoolers, Readers Theatre and Mobile Media Lab for Primary Schoolers. Qualified Staff members tell stories and engage students in educational activities. This program focusses on the importance of familiarizing all ages with reading readiness and assist with improving comprehension skills and performances at school. The program will be done on a larger scale this year, involving all daycare centers. Daycare centers and afternoon schools will be contacted. However, if you would like your school or center to be placed on our schedule feel free to contact us @ 542-2970.

And also, as a reminder to you our patrons, since 2013 members can borrow almost 900 e-books which are provided by the US-based company Overdrive. Overdrive recently launched their newest app “Libby” which users can download books via the Philipsburg Jubilee Library free of charge to read on any of your android devices. The library staff is happy to assist you with the downloading and use of Libby if needed.

Remember together we will make St. Maarten a great reading nation.
