She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a Master’s degree in Montessori Education, with additional expertise in reading, language development, and ESOL.
Her work focuses on understanding how children learn and supporting language, literacy, communication, and inclusive learning. She brings a developmental and child-centered perspective to early literacy and will serve as moderator for the panel discussion.
Ivanca Sterling Registered Nurse with over 15 years of experience in maternal, child, and public health. She began her career at St. Maarten Medical Center in Obstetrics and Gynecology and currently serves as a Public Health Nurse within the Youth Health Care Section of Collective Prevention Services (CPS).
Her work focuses on health education, prevention, early childhood development, immunization, school health, and community outreach. She is passionate about empowering children and families and promoting healthy development through education and advocacy.
Chevon James Certified and registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in Sint Maarten and the Netherlands, with over five years of experience in the field. She obtained her degree in the Netherlands and is passionate about helping individuals develop effective communication skills.

D’Antoinette Roger-Sorton Occupational Therapist and Managing Director of Enable N.V. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Florida and master’s degree in London, she returned to Sint Maarten in 2012.
With almost 15 years of experience, she has played a key role in advancing occupational therapy on the island, including founding Sint Maarten’s first private occupational therapy clinic and the Occupational Therapy Association of Sint Maarten (OTIS). She is passionate about promoting health, wellness, independence, and quality of life within the community.
Lorraine Leacock Special Education Teacher with over 40 years of professional experience, specializing in learning disabilities, with a particular focus on dyslexia. She holds an Honours Degree in Psychology and specialized qualifications in assessing children to identify learning challenges and developing appropriate remediation strategies to support their educational needs.
