During Black History month a lot of schools pay attention to local and international icons on the subject. The Sint Maarten Library is one of the sources where to find relevant material to substantiate school assignments and to learn more about our history

The library staff welcomes and assists students to understand more.

The library also hosts the iSTEP program, which is made available through a collaborative initiative between the Sint Maarten Library and the Division of Innovation of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sport.

The program consists of 13 markers and is accessible through the ISTEP APP that you can download on your mobile phone or tablet. To get the taste of it go to your Play Store and download the app

Students, patrons, and other visitors are encouraged to enjoy this virtual exhibition of Sint Maarten’s history and artifacts.

They will learn more about and even experience the stories about salt mining, slavery, Emilio Wilson, and Rockland Estate. It gives them a unique virtual experience of the history of Sint Maarten. So, if you prefer to listen to stories, you can knock yourself down in the iSTEP program.

Of course, our 'Alice and Lionel Romney's book collection about the African diaspora and our Sint Maarten collection is open and available.

The same goes for our local and Caribbean books.
Last but not least, Sint Maarten Library is preparing a grand finale of Black History Month.
We will announce this in one of our next press releases
