Donald “Don” Hughes Featured in Black History Month 2026 Literary Figures Series
Hughes, Managing Director of PJD2 Radio (1300 AM and 102.7 FM), has shaped St. Maarten’s media landscape for decades
through influential programs like Viewpoint. Beyond broadcasting, he is a civic leader, founding figure in local sports, and a
diversified entrepreneur whose impact spans athletics, construction, hospitality, and real estate.
Piper, a B.F.A. graduate of Parsons School of Design and M.Sc. in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Catholic University
of Leuven, is a celebrated artist, writer, and radio personality. Her work explores identity, culture, and community, with
exhibitions, poetry, and broadcasts that have become staples of Saint Martin’s cultural scene.
