Connection, and Joy Through Storytelling with Sister Basilia Center Students
Sint Maarten Library Inspires Inclusion,
This summer, the Sint Maarten Library welcomed students from the Sister Basilia Center (SBC) for a heartwarming storytelling experience filled with joy, imagination, and meaningful messages of inclusion, empathy, and acceptance.

During the visit, Library Assistant K. Henry shared the beloved children’s book “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. Through this touching story, students explored themes of kindness, love, belonging, and the importance of valuing every individual.

The reading session highlighted a powerful message: everyone has strengths, everyone deserves care, and everyone should be valued for the person they are, not only for what they can provide.

The story created an opportunity to reflect on compassion, respect, and the importance of embracing each person’s unique abilities and contributions.

The experience continued with care coordinators sharing additional stories with the students, allowing them to enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and resources of the Sint Maarten Library.

The Sint Maarten Library remains dedicated to promoting literacy and creating inclusive spaces where everyone in Sint Maarten’s community feels welcomed and valued. Through the power of books and storytelling, the Library continues to bring people together, inspire imagination, and nurture a culture of acceptance, empathy, and belonging.
