As part of our RBC’s rebranding on Monday 19 March 2012 we were please to be the recipient of $1000 of their community donations. Special mention of interest for RBC was our Readers are Leaders Project which is a possible through a collaborative effort of The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunrise

On Thursday, March 8, independent Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Illidge made good on a promise to deliver five more computers to Philipsburg Jubilee Library, for a grand total of 10. The additional five computers were made possible through a donation by Diageo Company

On Saturday March 17th at 11.00 pm Children’s book writers Elle and Erik will visit the Philipsburg Jubilee Library to read from their books Elle and Erik have been writing children’s books together since 1990. They also write songs, rhymes and lyrics for magazines. They have a daughter, Anna (1990) and a son, Lot (1992);

We’d like to thank the community for making the March 3rd book sale a success. With the sale we made a total of Naf.754,25.

Duties : drive and operate the library bus, report vehicle problems, check materials in and out , collect fines and fees and repair damaged books.

The Philipsburg Jubilee Library will be hosting an Anansi Festival on March 6th to March 11th 2012. The goal of this initiative is to showcase the results of the workshop held by Anansi researcher Mirto Lacle who visited from Aruba in February .

Every Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday night during the month of February and March from 5.30 pm to 8.00 pm there will be movies that will enhance the awareness of the community of St. Maarten.

This Saturday, March 3rd 2012, the library is organizing a spectacular book sale from 10 am until 1 pm For sale are used books, coming out of the collection of the library and used books that were donated to the library.
Readers are Leaders Black History Celebration this Tuesday

Readers are Leaders Black History Celebration this Tuesday

On Tuesday February 28th the Readers are Leaders book club will have their annual Black History Celebration at the Library. On the program are various acts to be performed by students from the participating high schools. Students from the Vocational school will do a Poem and drumming rendition as well as a dance to song rendition.
