Philipsburg, February 17, 2022. Philipsburg Jubilee Library (PJL) received a grant from the Dutch Royal Library to stimulate challenged teenagers to read. PJL Board and Management decided to use entrepreneurship as the vehicle for this reading campaign and have started ordering books about young entrepreneurship.

February is a month–long observance of Black History Month (BHM). It’s a chance in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean to celebrate Black achievements. The celebration also provides a fresh reminder to take stock and understand Black Histories, going beyond stories of racism and slavery to spotlight Black achievement.

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, the Philipsburg Jubilee Library (PJL) celebrates 98 years. The library was founded on this date back in 1923, the year Queen Wilhelmina celebrated her silver jubilee.

Teenagers outreach program: reading freaks me out.

On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, the Philipsburg Jubilee Library features another virtual book discussion. The book that will be discussed is Dear Young Black Queen, written by local author Jennifer Brooks. A group of teenagers was selected to read and analyze this book about the empowerment of young people; both female and male. The discussion will be facilitated by Angelique Gumbs.
